Part 3 in a Series: How to Claim Your Spot in the New AI Era

Part 3: The Strategic Roadmap

How to Claim Your Spot in the New AI Era… Without Losing Your Mind

Navigating this shift doesn’t require an overnight revolution or an all-nighter spent tearing down your website. It requires better strategic tools, deeper analysis, and a big-picture mindset. You can’t shortcut it, but you can build a strategy that stands the test of time.

Here is your clear, actionable roadmap for establishing an aligned digital presence in 2026.

1: Audit Your Digital Footprint

Clean up the foundation first
Ensure your domain is clear, easy to type, and perfectly aligned with your social handles across every platform. Give AI a clean, unified map of who you are without fragmented or abandoned accounts creating noise.

2: Optimize Visual & Written Assets

Answer-first formatting
Name your image files purposefully with descriptive titles before uploading them. Adopt “answer-first” formatting on your website—clearly state who you are, what you do, and who you serve in the first 1–2 sentences of your core pages.

3: Repurpose Your Video Assets

Feed the Google index
Don’t let your short-form videos die on Instagram. Upload your video clips, tutorials, and client stories directly to YouTube so Google’s AI can transcribe and index your audio for generative search recommendations.

4: Publish Strategic FAQs & Founder Bios

Give AI direct facts
Write an explicit, factual “About” page and a clear FAQ section on your site. AI models love straightforward answers, structured data, and authentic founder bios when synthesizing recommendations for searchers.

5: Leverage Owned Long-Form Content

Watch your handles
Publish deep-dive articles, essays, or newsletters on your website blog, LinkedIn, or Substack. Caution note: If you use Substack, make sure your Substack handle and publication name match your website domain and social handles so you don’t split your brand authority.

6: Gather Verifiable Social Proof

Build authentic trust
Collect real stories and video reviews from real clients. Claim and update your Google Business Profile. Verifiable social proof is the ultimate currency for building trust with both human beings and AI search engines.

7: Lock Down the Basics Early

Essential for new ventures
If you’re launching a new business or brand, secure your primary domain name and lock in all matching social handles before you even start building your website. Setting up a clean foundation on day one saves immense headache later.

Feeling Overwhelmed? Start Here (It Takes 2 Minutes)

If you’re reading this and feeling a wave of overwhelm, take a deep breath.

As a business owner, you’re already wearing ten different hats. You don’t have time to pull an all-nighter restructuring your entire web presence (or what I often refer to as your digital footprint), and you certainly shouldn’t feel like you have to do it all at once.

If you want a simple, immediate starting point today, do this one thing:

Open a browser window in Incognito mode.

Type your business name into Google.

(Why Incognito? If you search normally, Google recognizes your device and personal browsing history—skewing your results to look better than they actually appear to a stranger. Incognito strips away that personal bias.)

Look at the first page with soft, curious eyes:

Does your correct domain appear near the top?

Are your matching social handles showing up?

Do you see a verified Google Business Profile on the side?

Take a quick screenshot of what you find. You don’t have to fix everything today, but knowing where you stand is the very first step toward building a real strategy.

Claiming Your Spot

The era of quick-fix SEO hacks is officially over—and I think that’s worth celebrating. When you take the time to build a clear, aligned, and strategic digital footprint, you stop chasing algorithms and start attracting the exact clients and opportunities you were built for.

P.S. If there’s a topic you’d like me to write about, or if you have a digital strategy question you’ve been holding onto, DM me on Instagram. I’d love to answer your question publicly in a future post so we can help others who are walking the exact same path.
